Vocational Education since 1889
School Center Škofja Loka (SC Škofja Loka) is an educational institution with a long tradition of vocational and technical education, as its beginnings date back to 1889, when a craft school was established in Škofja Loka (Gorenjska, Slovenia).
Four organizational units
Within the school center, there are three independent schools and Business-to-Business education center, which all educate and train, both students and adults, in various technical fields and to various professional levels.
Secondary vocational and technical school of mechanical engineering
provides education and training in the field of mechanical engineering, auto-mechanics and plumbing within the following vocational programmes:
Four-year technical programme for: mechanical engineering technicians
Two-year vocational-technical programmes for: mechanical engineering and auto-service technicians
Three-year vocational programmes for: a toolmaker (school learning form and apprenticeship form of education), a machinist (school learning form and apprenticeship form of education), a car mechanic (school learning form and apprenticeship form of education), a car bodyworker (school learning form and apprenticeship form of education) and a plumber
Two-year lower vocational programme for: an assistant in technological processes.
Secondary School of Wood Engineering
provides education and training in the field of wood engineering, woodworking and joinery within the following vocational programmes:
Four-year technical programmes for: woodworking and environmental technicians
Two-year vocational-technical programme for: woodworking technicians
Three-year vocational programmes for: a joiner (school learning form and apprenticeship form of education) and an upholsterer
Two-year lower vocational programme for: an assistant in technological processes.
Vocational College of Mechanical and Wood Engineering
It was founded in 2004. The school successfully accomplishes its goals of educational programmes for mechanical and wood engineering by empowering students with modern and current knowledge and therefore it creates good atmosphere among professors and students.
Each academic year the school invites applications for: 70 places for full-time students and 70 places for open school students.
Two-year programmes for: an engineer of mechanical engineering, an engineer of wood engineering.
Business-to-Business Education Center
– performs practical training for apprentices, students and vocational college students
– performs practical training for adults.
– optimally integrates modern technologies of practical training and technical-theoretical education at all levels of technical education in the region.
– contributes highly skilled workers at the internationally comparable level for the needs of the industry and trade.
– within national and international projects it contributes and transfers good practices cases of co-operation between technical education and industry
Our students, apprentices, college students and adult participants of education come from Škofja Loka, the Poljanska and Selška valleys, the wider Gorenjska region. Students who come from more remote places usually stay at our dormitory.
